In our most recent session, our little learners dived into the vibrant world of colour recognition and practiced number formation through hands-on, play-based activities. These two concepts are key components of early learning:
Colour recognition helps children with categorisation, vocabulary development, and visual discrimination.
Number formation supports fine motor development and early math skills, setting the stage for future numeracy tasks.
Using a mix of games, crafts, movement-based tasks, and visual prompts, our participants not only had fun but also strengthened the cognitive and motor skills that form the building blocks for more formal learning environments.
Why School Readiness Matters
Our School Readiness Group is led by experienced occupational therapists who understand the importance of preparing children holistically. Each session targets:
Fine motor skills (e.g., pencil grasp, scissor use)
Gross motor coordination
Attention and following instructions
Social interaction and group participation
Emotional regulation and resilience
We know that starting school can be a big transition. Our goal is to ensure each child walks into their first classroom with confidence and a strong foundation for learning.
Also Available: Early Communication Group
In addition to our school readiness program, we offer an Early Communication Group led by our experienced speech pathologist. This group supports the development of early language, listening, and social communication skills, which are essential for both academic success and meaningful interactions with peers and adults.
